Artist Statement:

Jeremy D. Mohler is a professional illustrator whose work has been featured in comic books, book covers, album art, text books, and trading card games.

His subject matter ranges from science fiction to ancient history, from urban cityscapes to isolated plains, from Inuit tribes to winged monsters to Alexander the Great. Jeremy’s work defies classification and encompasses multiple genres. He seamlessly blends realism and fantasy, rendering even the most extraordinary characters and situations in such a way that they seem possible.

For Jeremy, drawing is analogous to storytelling. He approaches every piece as a storyteller using imagery to engage his audience and tell a tale. He enjoys the freedom that his medium offers; drawing presents limitless possibilities and allows him complete control over the scenes he creates. As an artist and a storyteller, he uses his acute sense of light, perspective, and detail to compose intriguing and complex narratives.

Ultimately, Jeremy views his art in an unsentimental and straightforward way. It is simply what he does. “Drawing is my job,” he says. “It is not a hobby. It is not always fun. It is work.”

“But there is no other work I would rather be doing.”
